All Souls Procession
The All Souls Procession happens in Tucson just after Halloween and is inspired by Mexico's Dia de los muertos (Day of the Dead). Since we are so close to it now that we moved, we headed out to see a little bit of it. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the procession, they start in downtown and head just west of the freeway. All those in the procession and anyone else coming dresses up and paints their faces or wears masks representing skulls. There were some beautiful face paintings, but of course I didn't get many pictures. So I've included a few pictures that they have on their website. We didn't stay long as it starts at 4pm and goes to 2am. Sophia was also just getting over being sick, so we were there for only about 1 hour or two. Here are a few of the pics I took.
Here are two photos from their website of some of the procession as they made their way downtown last year! Next year we hope to get a babysitter and go so we can enjoy the procession as well as all the other festivities!
